The 2014 San Antonio Parade of Homes

After living in Texas for the past twelve years, I’ve experienced a good dose of the mentality, “Everything is bigger in Texas!” It was no surprise that the homes in this summer’s San Antonio Parade of Homes were big. I don’t have a need or a desire for a home the size of the ones in the parade, but they are fun to explore!

The first home had a nice variety of plants in the landscaping.

Here is the rest of the home with plenty of windows–and check out the driveway!

The best part of the home was the upstairs balcony. The transparent deck surround and the expansive views were fantastic.

How fun to have a seating area with a fire pit in the pool!

The master bathroom had two shower entrances and incredible natural light. It would be fun to turn the outdoor area in a lush and colorful space.

The staging in the entire home could have used some love. But the master bedroom took the cake. It was a huge bummer. The bed really overpowered the room and didn’t enhance the architecture of the room. A rug would have been nice in here.

The back porch and outdoor deck areas would be great for entertaining and hosting family and friends. Staging love was needed outside as well. There was not a plant or a flower to be found on the back porch and the tags were still hanging off the outdoor furniture.

The second home:

This was my first time seeing an organic pattern on a home’s entrance steps. I loved it!

This is the point with each home that I get excited about what could be beyond the front doors!

Sadly, my hopes were dashed with rope lights, pendants, and paint. Maybe this entrance appeals to someone?

I like to post and remember the best parts of homes in a parade. However, some of the styling in this parade missed the mark so much for me that I had to include parts of it. This table setting was unlike anything I have ever seen in a show home. If I ever start to doubt my decorating abilities, I am returning to this post. I couldn’t help but want to help them with the styling!

It gets better though. Saddle up! This space humored me and mortified me all at once.

One more room for good measure.

The home certainly redeemed itself in the backyard!

The third home:

I hoped for inspiration beyond the door!

And thankfully, I found some.

House number four did not disappoint.

I was excited to see the inside of this home!

This living room warms my color loving heart!

I can’t get over all of the turquoise and orange outfits in this shot! They coordinate perfectly with the outdoor decor.

If you’ve ever wondered what an entire wall of gold penny tile would look like–you’re welcome.

The art makes me think of my kid’s I SPY books.

House number five:

Gorgeous entrance. Crowded parade.

I love the hem of the woman’s dress in front of me complimenting the lines in the wood flooring.

All in all there were major highs and major lows in terms of inspiration. What did you think? I’m already looking forward to next years parade!

  1. Wow. Those homes are really something! I especially love the pools, views, and backyards. But, you’re right: the staging in many left a lot to be desired!

    • Hi Colleen!

They definitely made me want to stay and swim or lounge poolside! I appreciate your comment about the staging. I was reluctant to share the not so pretty, but would love to know what other people think. I know we all have different tastes.
